Lindsay

Lindsay, b. 1937, holds a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art and an MS in language from Carnegie Mellon, and studied with Grace Hartigan in the 1960s. She considers herself a folk artist, and often uses New York City and its inhabitants as her subjects, capturing moments of everyday life. While not strictly representational or abstract in nature, Lindsay’s work transcends definition and uses color, shape and line to express the humanity in her subjects.

Lindsay has exhibited her work for fifty years in many venues, and continues to actively show work in New York. In addition to her exhibiting her artwork, she founded and has worked as the director of a cooperative and taught at the school of Art & Design in Philadelphia. Lindsay lives in New York City, and continues to make artwork that capture snippets of life in Manhattan.
