Larry Davis
Larry Davis, b. 1945, is a self-taught photographer, intuitively capturing images that often evoke the feelings of a hazy memory or fleeting dream. The images are at once identifiable yet defy classification as a definable object. He heightens the intimacy imbued in his work by creating small three-inch square prints that afford the viewer a private experience without the distraction of other viewers.
A true devotee to the medium, since 1997, Larry Davis has been a member of Soho Photo Gallery, the oldest photography cooperative in New York City. He has been the president, vice president, and chair of their Portfolio Review and Membership Committees. He has reviewed portfolios for the International Center of Photography’s Career Day, for the School of Visual Arts and for Photo Lucida.
In addition to exhibiting, Davis has work in the Polaroid Collection, and has been juried into New York University’s Small Works Exhibition for nine years, winning a variety of awards.
