Barbara Lubliner

New York sculptor, Barbara Lubliner moves fluidly between performance art, works on paper, and sculpture both large and small. In recent years Lubliner’s public installations and studio work have involved re-purposing trash into playful art, shifting the focus from environmental blight to creative production. In 2016 her "Prayer Flags - Good Will Wishers," made of re-purposed protective plastic pages and paper detritus, were permanently installed at The Fortune Society headquarters in Queens. "Plastic Bottle Pyramid" and "Tree Gems," temporary plastic bottle outdoor collaborative installations were installed in Brooklyn, Manhattan, and New Jersey venues. "File Cycle," her 7 1/2 foot tall sculpture of re-purposed file cabinets was in Stamford, CT's 2007 Art in Public Places exhibit, and featured in the New York Times article about the show.

 Barbara Lubliner, performance and visual artist, sculptor, panel moderator, teacher, curator and the creator of a feminist newspaper, received her BFA from Boston University School of Fine Arts. Solo exhibitions include the Gibson Gallery Museum at SUNY Potsdam; Main Gallery, Port Washington Public Library, NY; and Pierro Gallery, South Orange, NJ. Group exhibitions include Art in Public Places, Stamford, CT; Gallery Merz, Sag Harbor, NY; Ocean County College, NJ; and University of Rhode Island in Kingston. In New York City, Lubliner has participated in exhibits at the Chelsea Art Museum, Ernest Rubenstein Gallery, and Queens College Art Center. Recent performance venues include the Brooklyn Museum and Le Petit Versailles garden in New York City.
