John Beardman

John Beardman, b. 1937, Youngstown, Ohio is a painter. He received an AB from Oberlin College, a MA and MFA from Southern Illinois University, and a certificate from the Sorbonne. Beardman also studied at Stanley Hayter’s Atelier 17 in Paris. He taught at the University of Connecticut and Cranbrook Academy of Art.

Beardman's work is a personal expression of remembered visual phenomena, particularly of landscapes. Painting is a means for Beardman to give form to his experiences. 

Beardman has exhibited extensively nationally and internationally. His solo exhibition highlights include shows at The Allan Stone Gallery, OK Harris, Jayne H. Baum, MI, 55 Mercer and M55 Art Noho Gallery. His group exhibition highlights include shows at The Allan Stone Gallery, Museum of Arts and History in Port Huron, Detroit institute of Art, and Butler Institute of Art in Youngstown, Ohio. His work is in many public and private collections including the Butler Institute of Art, Detroit Institute of Art, Cranbrook Academy of Art, American Broadcasting Corporations, the estate of Meyer Schapiro, the estate of Harry Bober, and the estate of Allan Stone.
