Gerson Leiber: Rites of Spring - A Modernist View of Nature
On the Wall: Arnold Wechsler

Gerson Leiber

Rites of Spring: A Modernist View of Nature, features recent drawings and paintings by 92 year old artist Gerson Leiber. Leiber’s paintings, rich in palette and expression, have the rare ability to both visually engage and satisfy the viewer with their aesthetic complexity. In the artist’s own words, “The paintings you see here are the summation of a long search for clarity, honesty and beauty as the circumstances of my life have permitted me. I sincerely hope they please.” The drawings, with their masterful use of line, tone and movement, are similarly expressive works to be savored.

Arnold Wechsler

For his On the Wall installation, 2013 Pollock Krasner Grantee Arnold Wechsler created a new piece, his exuberant gestural style will be on full display. His work is cosmopolitan in the truest sense of the word. Through the processes of assimilation and engagement, whether by wandering the hills of Japan or Guatemala or working in the former Soviet Union completing detailed proposals for the modification of public monuments, Wechsler has brought added significance to the role of artists as global explorer and documentor.
